  • I cannot establish a connection to my IMAP-Account in Thunderbird. What do I have to do?

    Some IMAP-Accounts need an older TLS-Version. Instructions can be found for Linux or Windows.

  • How can I add permissions to a folder, calendar or contact to all users of our domain?

    You can set the permissions for the "Standardgruppe". This group includes all users of your domain, as well as any future users. Instructions can be found under Instruction Manual.

  • How can I synchronize my contacts and my calendar with my Android device?

    We recommend the use of the DAVx⁵ app (free on F-Droid, paid on Google Play) to synchronize your contacts and calendar. We have instructions for the set-up of this app on our website. An alternative is the app OpenSync (free on Google Play).

  • To how many addresses can I auto forward my E-Mail address?

    You can enter maximal 8 addresses to auto forward your e-mail to. If you want to auto forward the received e-mails to more than 8 addresses, please contact our support team under support(at)stepping-stone.ch. We will be happy to configure an alias mailing list.

  • How can I share my contacts?

  • What is the difference between GB (Gigabyte) and GiB (Gibibyte)?

    The first one mentioned uses decimal (SI) and the second one binary (IEC) unit prefixes. The actual sizes are shown in the table beneath.

  • What can I do when my mail box is full?

    To see the actual storage of your mail box you have to log in to your online mail account. On the top right of this website you will find the login button. The available storage and how much is currently in use is found in the Mail tab.

    There are several options to ensure sending and receiving mail when you are running out of storage.

    • You can order more storage. Please contact our support, we are happy to increase your storage for you.
    • Delete the e-mails you do not need anymore.
    • If you are using a local software to read your emails, it is possible that your locally deleted mails are still stored online. To delete those, log in with your account (on the top right of this website you will find the login button) and open the menu beside your trash folder to empty the trash bin (last option).
  • How many recipients can one E-Mail have?

    The technical limitation of recipients per Mail is 1'000.

    Please note that sending mass mailing is not allowed. More information can be found in our "terms and conditions" paragraph 4 and 5.

  • Does my spam folder get emptied automatically?

    Yes, you do not have to empty your spam folder. stoney mail is deleting items in your spam folder continuously. Your spam folder deletes the messages automatically after 15 days.

  • If I have my own DNS servers, how do the MX and SPF settings look?

  • How can I change the password of my e-mail account?

    Please log in to our Selfcare-Interface on to https://selfcare.stepping-stone.ch. Make sure you also change the passwords set for the email client on your local devices such as phone and laptop.

  • What are the e-mail settings for my client?

    Please take into account that you must also enter your user name (your e-mail address) and your password into the mail programme.

    To send e-mails, you must activate STARTTLS encryption for the SMTP server; moreover an authentication (SMTP Auth) is required.

    Naturally you can also use your WebMail to easily and independently send/receive E-Mails.

  • How do I get more storage for my mailbox?

    You can purchase additional storage by sending an email to support(at)stepping-stone.ch. Please specify in the email how much storage you would like to buy. We will notify you once the change has been made.

  • What size e-mail attachments can I send and receive?

    Our mail server is restricted to 50 MiB (this also includes the message text and headers). However, when an e-mail is sent or received, other mail servers, with different restrictions may be involved, over which we do not have any influence.

    Please also note, that most attachments will be base64 encoded. This results in an overhead of approximately 33% in size. Thus a file with a size of 20 MiB will actually use about 26.6 MiB disk space.

  • I receive no more Spam e-mails, what is the matter?

    In that case, you must be satisfied with our Spam Filter, thank you ;-)
