To see the actual storage of your mail box you have to log in to your online mail account. On the top right of this website you will find the login button. The available storage and how much is currently in use is found in the Mail tab.
There are several options to ensure sending and receiving mail when you are running out of storage.
The technical limitation of recipients per Mail is 1'000.
Please note that sending mass mailing is not allowed. More information can be found in our "terms and conditions" paragraph 4 and 5.
When our mail server receives an e-mail, it is checked to see whether it is spam or not. No definitive decision is made between spam and non-spam. Instead, each e-mail is assigned a spam score. The higher the score, the more likely it is to be spam.
The server then has different rules for each e-mail account as to how it should react to the score. By default, e-mails with a score > 6.31 are placed in the spam folder instead of the inbox. E-mails with a score > 1000 are not saved at all, but automatically deleted.
If you receive a lot of spam e-mails in your inbox, we can lower the spam score for your e-mail address so that spam mails are moved into your spam folder earlier. Please contact us by e-mail for this purpose.
It may be useful to analyse the spam score of the spam e-mails in your inbox in order to set a threshold value tailored to your needs.
The SPAM score of an e-mail can be viewed in the header under "X-Spam-Score":

Please note that there is a greater chance that e-mails that are not spam will end up in the spam folder. So if we lower the tolerated spam score for your e-mail account, please check your spam folder regularly in the following weeks.
Yes, you do not have to empty your spam folder. stoney mail is deleting items in your spam folder continuously. Your spam folder deletes the messages automatically after 15 days.

The settings for our Mail Server are:
Secure IMAP (SSL) Server | Port | User name | Password |
---|---|---|---|
imap.stoney-mail.com | 993 | Your E-Mail Address | Your E-Mail Password |
Secure POP (SSL) Server | Port | User name | Password |
pop.stoney-mail.com | 995 | Your E-Mail Address | Your E-Mail Password |
SMTP (Auth via STARTTLS) Server | Port | User name | Password |
smtp.stoney-mail.com | 587 | Your E-Mail Address | Your E-Mail Password |
Please take into account that you must also enter your user name (your e-mail address) and your password into the mail programme.
To send e-mails, you must activate STARTTLS encryption for the SMTP server; moreover an authentication (SMTP Auth) is required.
Naturally you can also use your WebMail to easily and independently send/receive E-Mails.
You can purchase additional storage by sending an email to support(at)stepping-stone.ch. Please specify in the email how much storage you would like to buy. We will notify you once the change has been made.
Our mail server is restricted to 50 MiB (this also includes the message text and headers). However, when an e-mail is sent or received, other mail servers, with different restrictions may be involved, over which we do not have any influence.
Please also note, that most attachments will be base64 encoded. This results in an overhead of approximately 33% in size. Thus a file with a size of 20 MiB will actually use about 26.6 MiB disk space.
In that case, you must be satisfied with our Spam Filter, thank you ;-)
